About Us

Davis Music Centre Pty. Ltd., is the oldest family-owned music shop in Australia. Originally located in Russell Street Melbourne it was established in 1901 by Cecil Davis. In 1980 Lucio (Tony to some) and his wife Julie Ughetti purchased the business and relocated it to new premises covering 10,000 square feet, 12 years later. With their own car park and music school the new premises is only 6 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD.

Director/Co-Owner (A passionate Italian chef)

Lucio began playing drums professionally in 1960, releasing several albums, and taught numerous very successful students including his internationally acclaimed son Eugene, artistic director of Speak Percussion. He has over 30 years experience in the stringed instrument industry and still does many repairs in-house.

Peter Saccuzzo

Manager (Funky cool guy)

Pete has been playing guitar in numerous bands since 1990 and has been working in the musical instrument industry since 1987. He’s worked for some of the largest musical instrument stores and wholesalers in Australia. Pete has over 20 years experience in all aspects of music instruments.

Don Farrell

Consultant/Teacher/Staff (Coffee lovin’ dude)

Don has been playing guitar over 32 years and has played with many professional Australian & overseas artists. He’s a professional guitar teacher and does many studio sessions as well. Don previously owned his own musical instrument store and is now back with Davis Music after starting there as a 16 year old.

Joe Ranellone

Consultant/Staff (Very Vocal)

Joe’s passion for music spans over 25 years as a vocalist/guitarist. His experience and knowledge stems from recording and session work, along with touring both locally and internationally. His vast knowledge of sound reinforcement is a real asset to customers, helping to steer them in the right direction every time.
